I went down south to Phoenix this last weekend for New Years Fest. This is a particularly bonding experience for NAU ultimate players old and young because the annual alumni vs current student game is held on the Friday night. It was great to hear the legends that frequent the stories. I sprained my acl a little. I didn't play all weekend and instead watched. The team looked really good and I was reminded of why I play this sport even though I wasn't playing. It is a great culture to be a part of. Hopefully I can soon be completely mobile again.

This last weekend Alan Splitter, Glenn Lovelady, Ty Ballard, and myself ventured up to the land of deserting dreams; Las Vegas. We went to ride in a rail jam set up by Powder and Sun named Throw Down Chow Down. We left Flagland around 4am on Saturday. This placed us fashionably late for the contest at Vegas Ski & Snowboard Resort around 10. Once we did get registered for the contest, we hot lapped for a minute and then the contest got rescheduled due to weather. We got refunds and rode some more before being relocated by ski patrol off the mountain. We returned to Vegas and commenced the usual misadventures of Vegas' strip around 2pm. The others, over 21, went out to see Skrillex while I read the history of Santa Fe's culture back at the hotel room.

On Sunday we again arrived fashionably late after my ever so slightly hung over friends and I drove back up the mountain. We had a grand day of riding (my first of the season on a mountain [excluding Saturday]). We rode well in the contest and chowed down on some super-spot-hitting carne asada. Alan, Ty, and I all made finals making up 3 of 6 finalists (only 2 skiers entered the contest). Alan stole a win in the snowboarding by destroying the down tube set up. I won too. We won some gift cards to the local snowboard shop which we decided to spend that night. This took a long time. We ended up back in Flag around 12pm Sunday night for some much deserved sleep.

Not much camera use.

After Tasmania I went to Melbourne to Hang out at home (Mum's home). While in Melbourne I got to see all the awesome people I still stay in contact with. Mum and I made a bunch of super tasty food. Got to the beach a bit. Played lots of cards (heck, spit, 500, cribbage), and threw disks around a bunch.

Saw Justice play (Goal 1) (accompanied by Busy P) with Elliott (brother), which I'd highly recommend.

Celebrated new years MUF style with the ulti kids from Monash.

Right before flying back, i went on a rendezvous down to Lorne with ol' friend Doug, which then found me in Pt. Lonsdale for a sold out toga party (which I didn't get into). After being towed for 15 minutes on a long board behind a bike, new friend Tommy and I hopped some bars in nearby Queensclif before finally being rescued and taken home by mum and CS Olav from Estonia. 11:20 flight next morning to LA was smooth sailing.

Back in Flag our four couch-surfers wanted to check out the canyon so I went with them.

I read books all break too. Did not get to surf or get my wisdom teeth removed, which were goals 2 and 3.
